I am teaching granny squares this week, such a great way for beginners to get used working in rounds and doing chains and trebles. Once you know how you can develop the basic technique to create so many shapes, colours and looks, turning them into beautiful blankets, bags, funky clothing, folksy cushion covers or even scarves! Here is a scarf I worked in 1 skein of beautiful Manos de Uruguay kettle dyed yarn in a wool and silk mix, taking the basic granny and turning it into a hexagon, which once you start it off is really simple to do! There are a few places left on the beginners workshop at Make & Do in Caversham tomorrow night, Thursday 6 September between 7 and 10pm! Plus you get tea and cake and crochet hook to take away, along with your square! Image
